8 day escorted tour
The High Tatra, the smallest high mountains of the world. You have 8 days to walk through these idyllic mountains and visit the most beautiful valleys with crystal clear Tatra mountain lakes. Stags and boar cross your way and even species such as bear, wolf and lynx find a retreat here. You follow mainly the Tatra high altitude path, just above the tree line. As a special experience you will stay 5 times in Tatra cabins with their unique atmosphere. Cabins and interior are mainly from timber, the food is regional and you meet walkers from all over the world.
After this tour you'll discover a new appreciation for Slovakia, its nature and its people.
Day to Day Itinerary
1st Day: Individual journey to Vienna/Poprad
By air to Vienna and organised transfer to Poprad.
2nd Day: Kôprovská Valley, Tatranská magistrála high altitude path, Lake Popper
Transfer into Kôprovská valley and then easy day tour along the high altitude path Tatranská magistrála. Look forward to the mountains, the visit of a small community and the Lake Popper where you will stay overnight in a mountain cabin. Walking time: approx. 6 hrs.
3rd Day: Mountain lake Žabie pleso, Rysy, Poppersee
Your first summit lies on the border to Poland. Continue to mountain lake Žabie pleso, where you visit the highest mountain cabin below the summit Rysy. Scenic views to the High Tatra. Overnight on Lake Popper. Walking time: approx. 8 hrs.
4th Day: Batizovaská Valley, Gerlach, Velické pleso
At first you walk to an idyllic mountain lake where you enjoy an excellent view across Batizovská valley. Follow the high altitude path below of the highest summit of High Tatra (Gerlach) and then into picturesque Velická valley. Overnight in a mountain hotel on the mountain lake Velické pleso. Walking time: approx. 6 hrs.
5th Day: Sports centre Hrebienok, Zamkovská cabin
Today you continue the crossing of the High Tatra and on your way you pass by well known sports centre Hrebienok. Continue uphill to Zamkovská cabin. Stop and enjoy the scenic views of a beautiful surrounding. Walking time: approx. 6 hrs.
6th Day: Svišťovka, Zelené Bergsee
In the morning you continue following the high altitude path to mountain lake Skalnaté pleso. Then a climb on the small summit Svišťovka follows. Mountain lake Zelené („Green Lake“) is surrounded by steep peaks and can only be reached on a serpentine path. Climbers love this part of HighTatra with many excellent climbing routes. Overnight in a mountain cabin on Green Lake. Walking time: approx. 6 hrs.

7th Day: Mountain cabin Plesnivec (edelweiss)
Summit tour on the eastern end of High Tatra. Excellent views on Belianske Tatry. Continue to mountain cabin Plesnivec (edelweiss) and then walk down into the village Tatranská kotlina, where you visit the cave Belianská, the most beautiful cave of High Tatra. From there you return to your starting point, to Poprad, where you will spend the last night. Walking time: approx. 8 hrs.
8th Day: Individual journey home
Organised return transfer to Vienna or individual journey home.
Tour Rating - moderate
Routes of medium difficulty on good trails and paths. Daily distance up to 6 hours and some changes in altitude. A good fitness level is required as you walk up to 20 km per day.

Flights in/out of Vienna are required to link to the included transfers into Slovakia.
