These resorts have invested a massive amount of money over the past few years, resulting in totally new hotels, lift infrastructure and ski villages.

BOROVETS  - link to trail map

The oldest Bulgarian winter resort is Borovets, with a history dating to 1896! Today Borovets is the second largest and most modern resort in Bulgaria. It is situated in the eastern part of Rila, huddled in pine forests 1390 meters above sea level (with the highest pistes at 2600 m).
The average temperature during the coldest month January is 4.8ºC. The slopes of Borovets normally have snow cover from mid December till April. Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) is just 72 kilometers away.
Borovets has recently developed into a modern ski resort of high class with luxury hotels, restaurants, discos, shops and a good choice of pistes and lifts. The excellent skiing attracts thousands of mountain lovers from all over the world. There are 58 kilometers of ski pistes grouped in three regions: Sitnqkovo – Martinovi Baraki ; Markudjik; and Qstrebec. The pistes on Qstrebets are the best, and all of the competitions take place there! The resort has twice hosted World Cup competitions in Alpine skiing. Its biathlon track is one of the best in Europe.

14 snow cannons are installed to guarantee the snow cover if needed. The Borovets ski school has more than 200 ski instructors fluent in foreign languages and some of them are former professional skiers.

	Hotel Rila 4**** The four-star Rila Hotel is the most impressive hotel in Borovets, with ski-in / ski-out convenience at the very bottom of the ski runs. Rila Hotel was completely renovated in 2001 and today it offers 256 double rooms, 266 standard suites (for up to 4 people), 2 superior suites and 2 lofts. All rooms and suites have balconies overlooking the mountain and are equipped with telephone, radio and satellite TV. The standard suites have also a living room with twin beds, small kitchenette and a refrigerator. An indoor pool, sauna, Turkish steam bath, jacuzzi, gym and nightclub are also offerred. Buffet style breakfasts and dinners are included.
	Hotel Flora 4**** This grand new hotel has an excellent location right beside the ski lift, so is virtually ski in/ski out! 210 rooms each have a phone, radio, TV, safe, hair-dryer, minibar and large bathroom. The hotel offers its guests a longe, bar, Irish pub, restaurant, casino, indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, Turkish steam bath, and gym. Buffet style breakfasts and dinners are included.
	Hotel Samokov 4**** Samokov Hotel is situated in the centre of the resort of Borovets (1300 m above the sea level), and just 50 m from the main gondola. It is an alpine style hotel, surrounded by old pine forests, offers pleasant atmosphere and first class service throughout the year. The hotel offers more than 300 rooms on 11 floors, with Sat TV, balcony, and telephone. Facilities include restaurants, bars, night club with floor show, indoor swimming pool, gym, jacuzzi, solarium, sauna, bowling, billards, table tennis, ski storage, and parking.  Buffet style breakfasts and dinners are included.

Bansko is Bulgaria's # 1 ski resort, having the best and most modern ski centre of all Bulgarian ski resorts. Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15 Dec - 15 May) of all Bulgarian ski resorts. A brand new resort village with super luxury hotels and holiday apartments is being developed just opposite the Gondola, which also makes Bansko the resort with the best hotels.

The town of Bansko is situated just 160 kilometers away from Sofia and 6 kilometers from Razlog. Bansko has developed into a favourite ski & snowboard destination, thanks to the excellent ski facilities combined with the unique architecture and historical significance.

The town of Bansko is located at 925 m. above sea level, and its skiing area is from 2000-2600 m. The ski pistes are located in two main ski centres- CHALIN VALOG (1100-1600m) and SHILIGARNIKA (1700-2500m). They are approximately 10 kilometers above the town on the northern slopes of Pirin, and are easily accessible by the new Gondola lift which starts from Bansko. The total length of the marked pistes is 65 kilometers.

Bansko boats excellent snow conditions with great snow cover from December untill May, with
44 snow cannons covering most of the runs. There are trails for all types of skier and will suit both beginners and experts.

The snowboard lovers can enjoy the first fun park in the Balkans. New lifts include an 8-seat Gondola cable car by Dopplemayer, five 4-seat chair lifts of the latest Doppelmayer model, one 3-seat lift by Poma, 7 drags and 10 baby drags. The total length of lifts in the resort is 26 kilometers. All ski equipment can be used by one chip-card from SkiData.
   

	Hotel Kempinski Grand Arena 5***** Situated at the footsteps of the Pirin Mountain, the Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena in Bansko welcomes you to its brand new Alpine All-Seasons & Spa Resort. The hotel is situated directly opposite the avant-garde gondola station. All 159 rooms are spacious and come with TV, phone, balcony, minibar, hair-dryer and safe. A superb wellness centre has an indoor & outdoor pool, saunas, Turkish steam bath, jacuzzi, Spa treatments, and solarium. Buffet style breakfasts and dinners are included.
	Hotel Tanne 4**** Excellent 4 star hotel located just 300m from the lifts. The hotel has a covered swimming pool, gyml, sauna, steam bath, solarium, jacuzzi, Spa centre, tavern with live music, wine cellar with live music, lobby bar, Vienna cafe, games room, and parking lot in front of the hotel. The Tanne has 25 double rooms, 5 apartments with fireplace and 3 two-floor apartments with TV sets, cable TV, DVD player in the apartments, telephone, mini-bar, hair-dryer, safe, and bathroom with a tub. Buffet style breakfasts and 4-course dinners are included.
	Hotel Mura 3***+ Hotel Mura is a new addition to this charming winter resort. Located just 10 minutes walk to the bottom station of the gondola lift, the Mura is within an easy reach to the town centre, shopping and nightlife. The friendly restaurant and cozy lobby bar area combined with the beautifully furnished rooms, surely will satisfy you. The hotel boasts a large Jacuzzi, steam bath, sauna, relaxation room, massage and ski-storage. Guests can benefit from a free shuttle bus service to the Gondola lift. Buffet style breakfasts only.
