Formerly a heli-ski operation, resort construction began in fall of 1999 and Kicking Horse opened its doors on December 8, 2000. Build-out should be reached in 2010. Kicking Horse is the first entirely new resort to be built in Canada in the last 25 years. An 8-passenger state-of-the-art gondola, the Golden Eagle Express, takes skiers from the village to the top of the mountain and a mountain top restaurant called the Eagle's Eye.
Lodging is located in the Gondola Plaza providing ski-in, ski-out accommodations for visitors, as well as further accommodation options 10 minutes away in the town of Golden, on the Trans-Canada Highway. The skiing is, as they say, awesome.
