Your journey starts in the tiny village Oosterwijtwerd (about 25 km northeast from Groningen), where you will stay on the splendid farm Wijtwerderheerd from 1789. The large garden has a nice view on the surrounding orchards and meadows.
From Oosterwijtwerd you go through the beautiful villages Godlinze and Uithuizen, old mottes, and you can visit the open air museum ‘Het Hoogeland’ where you can learn about how farmers lived some 100 years ago.
In Pieterburen you will stay in the cosy farm Zijlbrugge. Besides a visit to the seal rehabilitation centre can you also decide to make a day’s trip to the Isle of Schiermonnikoog.
The next day you will cycle via some mottes worth seeing, a tea museum and some Hunebeds to Noordlaren. You can also decide to shorten the route by taking the train. In Noordlaren you stay in a farm with view over the Zuidlaarderlake; it is nice to take a tour by boat over the lake. In the village you will find the only complete Hunebed of Groningen. In the near Zuidlaren you can visit the Fairy Park and in Haren you can visit the gardens in the Hortus.
Noordbroek, your third destination, dates from the Middle Ages. The farm where you will be staying is still in use. Past beautiful farms, the Schildlake and the water mill of Hoeksmeer you will cycle back to Oosterwijtwerd.

Flights are in/out of Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. There are trains from the airport terminal to Appingedam, near Groningen every hour, at a cost of approx. Euro 45.00.
