8 day Escorted Tour
The Cyclades, which comprise more than 30 islands, were the cradle of the first European civilised society 5,000 years ago. It is also here that Greece shows all its variety. Gleaming white cube houses with blue shutters and labyrinth lanes give the typical architectural flavour to the island towns.
The mostly ragged coastlines show impressive geological formations, turquoise-blue sea and fantastic sandy beaches. Experience the fascinating mixture between antiquity and modern times on the MS Panagiota and on your bike, as you imbibe the beauty of the Greek Aegean.

Check-in from 2 p.m. on the Panagiota. Dinner on board. Overnight stay in Piraeus.
Day 2: Island of Kythnos (approx. 25 km)
Cruise to the island of Kythnos which has been famous for its splendid cheese and honey since antiquity. A quiet, mostly flat island: the first tour begins in the harbour in Merichas and ends in Kythnos, the main town on the island, built in a typical Cycladian architectural style.
Finally you will reach the bathing resort Loutra. Its thermal springs are said to have curing energy. In the afternoon the PANAGIOTA will take you to Seriphos. Overnight stay in Livadi.
Day 3: Island of Seriphos (approx. 20 km)
Seriphos is a small island far from the tourist track, with deep valleys, countless bays and coves and lots of beautiful sandy beaches. From the harbour town of Livadi we will cycle along a serpentine road to the main town of Seriphos, whose cube form houses nestle along a mountain ridge high above the sea. We will continue on through untouched landscape to the Byzantine monastery of the Archangel Michael. We will return to Livadi along a panoramic road on the East coast. In the afternoon the ship will bring us to Siphnos, where we can relax at the beautiful beach. Overnight stay in Kamares.
Day 4: Siphnos (approx. 20 km)
The island of Siphnos, which is famous for its ceramic artwork, is only inhabited away from the coast, as its coast drops mainly steeply into the sea. The cycling tour begins in the harbour of Kamares. The route leads through a green, hilly terraced landscape to the central highlands with the island’s capital Kastro, which is a defensive settlement built on a steep cliff face and has been a listed and protected town since 1975. In the afternoon the ship will bring you to Syros, where you can round off the day in one of the numerous cafes on the spacious harbour promenade
Day 5: Syros and Mykonos (approx. 30km)
We sail to the island of Syros and cycle from Ermoupolis to the peaceful fishing village of Kini, located in the western part of the island. You cycle back along the numerous bays of the coastline through the whole southern part of the island to its capital, Ermoupolis, where you stay for the night. The town is situated on two hills. It differs from other Cycladian towns because of its strong urban character. You can let the evening come to an end in one of the numerous cafés on the long harbour promenade.
In the afternoon you will continue by boat to Mykonos, where the picturesque main town with its famous windmills and its white cube form houses invites visitors to stroll through it. With a bit of luck you may even see the mascot of Mykonos in the maze of laneways, the pelican Petros.
|
Day 6: Delos-Tinos (approx. 25 km)
In the morning you have the chance to visit the important ancient sites on the island of Delos, where according to Greek mythology the god Apollo and his twin sister Artemis were born. After lunch you will crossover to Tinos, where you will cycle along a high road to the mountain village of Kambos. Kambos is full of walled dove towers with their filigree architecture, which represent remnants from Venetian times. On the return journey you will visit the famous Evangelistria church in Tinos town.
Day 7: Kea (approx. 20 km)
In the morning the ship will bring you to Kea. The starting point for the tour of Kea, the most westerly inhabited Cyclade island, is the wonderful natural harbour of Korissia. From here you will begin your cycle tour to the white beach of Otzias, where the Mediterranean will tempt you to a refreshing swim. The next stop is the picturesque main town of Ioulis which is situated in the mountains and has the main attraction on the island: The smiling lion of Kea which was chiseled from stone in the 6th Century B.C. Bike & Sail the Southern Aegean
8 day Escorted Tour
Pedal on two wheels and sailing on a comfortable motor sailing yacht for a week in the marvellous Dodecanese Islands of the southern Aegean Sea – that sounds like a fantastic opportunity to relax, get a fine tan and yet acquire some fitness and culture. Enjoy the variety of the islands e.g. pulsating and yet tranquil Rhodes, the high volcano crater of Nissiros, or the barren yet charming island of Symi.
Your tour guide gets you to the most idyllic and interesting spots in these islands. Travel back into long lost times and get a close view of the history laden past of this part of Greece. Rock-throwing Poseidon, the Colossus of Rhodes, the Knights of St. John order, or the famous sponge-divers of Symi: they all left their traces, tales and monuments.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Marmaris
Individual arrival in Marmaris, Turkey. Embarkation starts at 2 pm. Individual arrival from the Turkish airports of Izmir or Dalaman. Transfer to the harbour with the handing over of the cabins from 2 pm. First dinner on board. The final participants arrive on board in the late evening.
Day 2 :(Sun) Island of Symi (Cycle Tour approx. 10 km)
Our first boat passage with the Bahriyeli will bring us to Symi. The entrance to the port is an
unforgettable impression of your journey: neo- classical, pastel coloured houses emboss the the island capital and refer to the rich history of the island. We will have the
opportunity to try our bicycles and take a first swim in the Aegean sea during a short cycle tour
to a beach. In the early evening our tour guide will walk with us to the upper town of Symi where
we will have to climb 500 steps. A breathtaking view to the port and its deep bay will
reward this climb - with some luck we will experience an unforgettable sunset.
Day 3:(Mon) Symi (Cycle Tour approx. 25 km)
In the morning we get started towards the other side of the island. On a winding road we slowly crest the mountain while having lots of time to enjoy the many beautiful panoramic views. Final destination is the Bay of Panormitis. Its monastery with the same name invites us for a visit. If weather conditions are fine, the boat takes us in the afternoon to the volcano island of Nissyros.

Day 4:(Tue) Nissyros – Chalki (Cycle tour approx. 40 km)
Early in the morning the Bahriyeli will cross over to the volcano island of Nissyros. Today’s cycle
tour guides us to Nikia which is a village directly built at the edge of the crater at 430m height above sea level.
From here we can enjoy a fascinating view into the volcano crater. Not only the volcano but
also the white houses and the numerous mosaics made by pebbles will truly amaze us. When we
arrive at the village square we should not miss a Greek coffee. From here we will cycle on
to the crater with its steaming sulphur springs and finally back to the small port town of
Mandraki – its charm has attracted visitors for centuries.
In the afternoon the Bahriyeli will move
on to Chalki where you can relax and enjoy the rest of the evening in a real Greek
fishing port.
Day 5: (Wed) Rhodes, Plimiri - Lindos (Cycle Tour approx. 35 km)
The morning will be spent on board during the cross over from Plimiri to the island of Rhodes.
From here we will cycle close to the coast on roads with light traffic. During a break in a café
directly on the sea we might see the Bahriyeli passing to await us later on in Lindos. This
village is one of the most beautiful in Greece. After the last ascent we can enjoy an
unforgettable view to this small town with its cube houses and narrow alleys- overtopped by its
mighty acropolis.

Day 6:(Thu) Rhodos, Lindos- Kolymbia- Rhodes town (Cycle Tour approx. 37 km)
Today our tour will lead us from Lindos into the fertile, agricultural hinterland of Rhodes.
We will cycle through old olive tree groves on small side roads, and onwards to Archangelos where a
typical Greek tavern invites us for lunch. Our boat awaits us at the end of an impressive
eucalyptus alley in the tiny port of Kolymbia to bring us into Rhodes town. The rest of the
afternoon we can stroll through the fantastic medieval old town at our own leisure.

Day 7: (Sun) Rhodes, Rhodes town- Marmaris (approx. 3 hours by foot)
After breakfast the travel guide will take us on a thrilling expedition through the 2400 year old
history of the island capital by foot. The deer and the hind at the entrance of the port Mandraki
will offer a fine opportunity for a photo. One still wonders if this is the place where the Colossus
of Rhodes was once situated. From here we will move on to the moat of the crusader town.
Even today Rhodes monumental walls contribute to its unique character. A walk though the
countless alleys with its impressive construction will make this guided city tour an unforgettable
experience.
Afterwards the Bahriyeli will bring us back to Marmaris where we will once again
have the possibility to visit the bazaar or the hammam. With a communal dinner the travel
guides and the crew will say good bye.
Day 8: (Sat) Marmaris (Disembarkation)
Disembarkation after breakfast and transfer to the airport; or extend your holiday in
Turkey or Greece.
Subject to weather and sea conditions, route changes may occur!
RATING: Moderate to Hilly

choose to skip a bike tour and spend the time sunbathing on the ship instead.

Bike and Sail the
Ionian Islands and the Gulf of Corinth
8 day Escorted Tour
This special tour combines the fascinating islands of the Ionian Sea with the Greek mainland. For one week, travelling by bike and on the two-masted motor sailer Panagiota, you experience first-hand the cultural and scenic diversity of Greece. Famous sites such as Delphi, where the ancient Greeks once consulted the oracle, or Aegina, where the white temple of Aphaia gleams high above the sea, are some of the highlights of the tour. The passage through the Corinth Canal, an artifical seaway connecting the Gulf of Corinth with the Aegean, will surely become an unforgettable memory.
In the archipelago of the Ionian Islands, you see Greece at its greenest. An unspoiled landscape and centuries of Venetian influence characterize this still fairly unknown group of islands. The crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea glittering in all shades of blue, the small island of Paxos densely covered in olive groves, the mountainous landscape of Cephalonia, the bird-sanctuary island of Lefkas as well as enchanting Ithaca – alleged home of legendary Odysseus – all guarantee a wonderfully relaxing vacation.
DAY TO DAY ITINERARY (some departure dates operate in reverse)

Day 2: Piraeus – Island Egina – Palaia Epidauros (approx. 35 km by bicycle)

From Palaia Epidauros today’s cycle tour takes us to the ancient sanctuary of the demi-god Asklepios. Here we visit the best-preserved theatre of Greece, and by dropping a coin we can convince ourselves of the phenomenal acoustics. In the afternoon we sail on the Panagiota through the Isthmus of Corinth, which was completed in 1893. Julius Caesar had already made plans for its construction. This
6.3 km long but only 24 m wide and 8 m deep canal connects the Aegean Sea with the Gulf of Corinth and saves travellers sailing from Athens to Corinth the approx.
400 km long trip around the whole Peloponnese. If weather conditions are fine, the cruise continues to Galaxidi, otherwise overnight stay in Kiato near Corinth.
Day 4 Galaxidi - Delphi – Nafpaktos – Island Cephalonia
From Galaxidi a transfer bus picks us up to bring us to the famous site of Delphi at the foot of the Parnassos range. Apollo, the god of the light, was once worshipped here and the oracle consulted. Not only the many temples and treasuries, the well-preserved theatre and the stadium, but mainly the breath-taking hillside location of the sanctuary makes the visit to Delphi an unforgettable experience. Early in the afternoon, the transfer bus takes us to Nafpaktos, where the boat awaits us to a long sail to Sami on Cephalonia island. We’ll spend the night there.
Day 5 Cephalonia Island (approx. 38 km/24 mi. by bicycle)
Today’s bike tour leads us from Sami to Fiskardo. At the beginning we cycle along a beautiful coast road to the village of Agia Efimia, one of the locations of the famous Hollywood movie “Corelli’s Mandoline”. We continue on through the interior of the island and finally we reach the high road of the western coast of the island, where we have lots of unforgettable views, like the panoramic view down to Myrtos beach. The ship awaits us in Fiskardo, one of the prettiest places of the Ionian Islands. Depending on the weather conditions it is planned that the Panagiota takes us to Porto Katsiki after lunch. Porto Katsiki is one of the most famous beaches of Greece, directly below the Leukadian cliff. A longer bathing stop is a must. From there we cruise to Nidri and stay in the little port for the night.
Day 6 Nidri - Mytikas - Lefkas town - Paxos Island (biking distance ca. 45 km)
The day begings with a crossing to Mytikas on the Greek mainland. We will ride along the coast to Mythikas and then on panoramic roads, passing some mountain villages to Lefkas town where the Panagiota awaits us and takes us to the island of Paxos, where we can spend the evening in a cosy taverna in the unique natural harbour of Gaios. Overnight stay on Paxos.
Day 7 Paxos Island - Corfu (biking distance ca. 23 km)
Paxos, the smallest of the seven Ionian Islands is covered in groves of olive trees, which gives the island its wonderful silver green colour. On our last cycle trip we will circle the whole island. We can also have a swim in the Mediterranean on one of the many beaches. In the afternoon the Panagiota takes us to Corfu. Here, our tour guide will join us on a walk through the atmospheric old town, before this impressive cruise ends with a last dinner on board.

We begin our cycle trip from the harbour Pothia, along the coast and later on through a sur-prisingly green and fertile valley to the quiet fishing village of Vathy, where we can have a coffee break in a cosy taverna. We take the same route back to Pothia and if you would like to cycle a little further we may take a trip to the Convent of Agioi Pantes, from where we have a brilliant view over the harbour. In the afternoon, we travel on with the ship towards Lipsi, where we stay overnight.
Day 4 (Tue) Island of Lipsi (approx. 15 km/9 mi. by bike)
Lipsi with its quiet beaches and parts and its 55 churches, which has been largely spared from tourism, is a very worth-seeing island. After a short bike ride a beautiful, peaceful beach invites us to enjoy a long swim break. Later on you shouldn’t miss a visit to the wonderful confectionery in the harbour. In the afternoon we cross over to Patmos by boat, which can be seen from afar with its snow white upper town and its towering monastery.
Day 5 (Wed) Island of Patmos (approx. 25 km/16 mi. by bike)
On a short but panoramic cycle route we visit the grotto, in which St. John during his banishment saw the apocalypse. The world famous St. John monastery of Hora, a village, which has a paradise-like peaceful atmosphere with its numerous white laneways and 33 churches and chapels, is the next stop on our cycle tour. From there we cycle along a wonderful beach inviting us for a bathing stop. Afterwards we return to the port where the ship awaits us to cruise over to Leros.
Day 6 (Thu) Island of Leros (approx. 25 km/12 mi. by bike)
Leros is green, varied and always offers new and surprising views into small harbours. A cycle trip in the morning brings us to the fort of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem in Agia Marina and into the small alleys of the town. After an espresso break in the idyllic harbour of the town we cycle on to the seaside chapel of Agios Isidoros, in which many couples get married. In the afternoon we cross over to the island of Kos, where our tour guides in the evening accompany us to the lively old town of Kos. We will be confronted with the ancient history of the town at every step.
Day 7 (Fri) Island of Kos (approx. 30 km/19 mi. by bike)
In the morning we take a cycle trip to the world famous archaeological excavation site of the Asclipion, where Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, practiced. From here the bike ride leads us on to Zia, an old Greek mountain village, which tempts us to stay with its numerous, cosy tavernas. Later on our boat takes us back to Bodrum, where we can stroll again through the lively, worth-seeing old town. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cosy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.
Day 8 (Sat) Disembarkation and departure
After breakfast, check-out and transfer to the airport or extension of your holiday in the Turkish or Greek Aegean sea.
RATING: Moderate to Hilly
This tour requires a good level of fitness as you will encounter some hilly terrain. Mostly asphalt roads with some steeper grades where you may wish to walk. You can always
choose to skip a bike tour and spend the time sunbathing on the ship instead.

On this tour your accommodation is a “Comfort- Gulet”- depending on the size of the group the Gulet can have 8 - 16 guest cabins.
