8 day Independent Tour
This tour will offer you the chance to visit the mountains and villages around Bolzano, green landscapes and quietly flowing rivers. A part of Italy still with a distinctly Austrian infuence.
Day to Day Itinerary
1st DAY Bolzano.
Individual arrival.
2nd DAY Round trip (35 km).
You take the cable railway to Renon, the "coast" of the Dolomites. In the 1600s, Renon was the preferred summer residence of aristocratic families from Vienna and Bolzano. Then you cycle back to Bolzano.
3rd DAY Bolzano–Lake Caldaro (45 km).
From Bolzano along the “wine road” you reach Appiano and then up to Lake Caldaro. After the village of Ora, you cycle on the bike path along the Adige river and continue back to Bolzano.
4th DAY Bolzano.
Day of rest. Take the opportunity for a visit to Bolzano's city centre or to relax in the hotel. For those who wish to pedal today, we suggest the itinerary to Trento along a very nice and quiet cycle path (approx. 70 kms) from where you go back to Bolzano by train (ticket not included in the price).
5th DAY Bressanone–Bolzano (50 km).
Today you reach Bressanone by train and then you cycle back to Bolzano on the bike path along the river Isarco.

6th DAY Merano–Bolzano (35 km).
Train transfer to Merano. You continue on bike paths and quiet secondary roads until the mouth of the Adige and Isarco rivers. You cycle through quite towns like Nals and Andrian. Then you will cycle back to Bolzano.
7th DAY Bolzano.
Departure.

Rating: Easy
Terrain is generally flat with a few moderate uphill stretches. As a whole it is an easy to manage week of riding, on paved and hard packed bike paths though the river valleys.
Transfers
The nearest airports are Bolzano, Innsbruck and Verona, in that order. Regular train service is available from each airport to Bolzano, where your hotel is located close to the station.
