Your Accommodations

During each tour you’ll be staying aboard one of our cosy sailing barge hotels on which you eat and sleep. The same ship transports your luggage, meaning that you’ll have a light and carefree holiday.

Your accommodation is a simple double cabin in which you’ll find a shower & toilet, a washing basin and central heating. Bedding and towels are included. Usually the beds are as pictured, however the "Comfort" tours have twin beds on one level.

Furthermore you’ll find an attractive dining & recreation room and a spacious sundeck aboard your boatel.

Daily Activities

Our tours in The Netherlands average around 40 km per day. This means that you’ll be leisurely pedaling from 9.00 a.m. till approximately 4.00 p.m.
Generally you have enough time to have several breaks and chances to do sightseeing. After all, we’ll never forget: it’s your holiday!

If you feel like a day off, simply stay on the boat as it cruises slowly along along the canals, or elect to just bike half a day. No problem, simply arrange a rendesvous point with your captain where you can meet him at lunch time.

The bicycles

During your Cycle and Barge tour a fine bike of good quality is included. These bikes are equiped with hand brakes, at least 3-speed gears and a pannier. Remember, Holland is flat so a 21 speed is not necessary. Our bicycle rental firm maintains and checks our bikes.
Your regular travel insurance will not cover theft of and/or damage to your rental bike, therefore we include a special local bicycle insurance as part of our package.

Meals

Each day aboard starts with a firm breakfast: several kinds of bread, crackers, coffee & tea, milk etc. During breakfast you’ll prepare your own lunch (sandwiches, fruit and a drink) for ‘on the road’. On your return in the afternoon the crew will serve a cup of coffee or tea. When you have freshened up after your cycle trip, a three course dinner is served in the dining room. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available at reasonable prices in the self-service bar aboard the ship.

Who are your fellow travellers?

Your fellow participants in our small-scale tours (there’s room for only 20-30 passengers) are of all ages and consist of single travellers, families and friends who travel together. They are from different countries like South Africa, Germany, France, Canada, the Netherlands and Great Britain. Everybody has in common the wish to experience a relaxed and somewhat active holiday in Holland.
All guided tours will be accompanied by one of our enthusiastic and multi-lingual tour leaders. In an 'easy going' way he or she will lead you along the selected itineraries and will invite you for various city walks enroute.
Your tour leader is also happy to give you advice and tourist information if you wish to discover a town or region by yourselves for a day, instead of joining the group.

The crew

Aboard our boatels the crew will do their utmost to make the tour as enjoyable as possible. They’ll always be willing to fulfill your special wishes and to answer your questions. The skipper is responsible for the safe transport of the passengers and their luggage. Furthermore you’ll find a ship’s cook and a general assistent who takes care of the preparation of your meals, assisting the skipper mooring the ship, cleaning, and other tasks there may be to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
