Croatia offers visitors a charming blend of old and new. The spirit and friendliness of its citizens, combined with great value, beautiful scenery and over 300 days of sunshine per year make for a wonderful combination.
We have five distinct cycling tours in Croatia, all fully escorted, exploring the shoreline and islands along Croatia's stunning Adriatic coast.
Countless islands in crystal clear water, deeply fissured cliffs, picturesque beaches and numerous small bays – that is the Kvarner Bay in the northern Adriatic. Every island is different. Each has its own history. You can spend a week discovering the landscape and people of this unique island-world by bike - independently and with the aid of knowledgeable tour guides.
On a romantic motor yacht - your floating accomodation - discover the charm of the Adriatic in your own special way. You cycle off after a hearty breakfast. At midday meet the ship at a harbour for lunch. In the evening the ship will be waiting in the next harbour, so that you can enjoy fantastic cuisine as the sun sets, followed by a stroll through the historic harbour town. Finally, settle down in your cabin to sleep - or stay on deck under a thousand stars...
Monday: The islands of Cres and Lošinj (approx. 55 km / 34 mi. by bicycle)
Your ship will bring you in the morning to Martinscica. From there you will cycle on the east side of the island among pine, fig and laurel trees to Osor, the artists town, where you will have lunch on the ship.
Afterwards there will be time for a swim in the bay with its crystal clear water. In the afternoon you will leave Osor, crossing over a swing bridge to reach the island of Lošinj. You will cycle along the panorama-route to Mali Lošinj, an old seafaring and health resort. The ship will be waiting for you in the large harbour with its numerous cafés and colourful houses. You will spend the night in the harbour of Mali Lošinj.
Tuesday:
The islands of Lošinj and Molat (approx. 40 km / 25 mi. by bicycle)
Along the seaside walk you cycle to the south of Lošinj and visit the picturesque small harbour of Veli Lošinj before you will meet the ship for lunch. In the afternoon you cross over to the island of Molat, where you will do one more short cycling tour. Overnight stay in the quiet harbour of Molat.
While you have breakfast, the ship will take off and take you past many small islands to the “spice island” of Dugi Otok. Your bike-tour will start in the bay of Bozava, which is surrounded by woods of pine, agave and tamarisk trees, and you will ride on a road nearly free of traffic. In the harbour of Savar you will meet the boat for lunch. While cycling in the afternoon to the fishermen village of Sali you will be impressed by the terrific views on the deep-blue sea and the surrounding islands.
After a cruise until lunchtime, you will reach the island of Pag. In the harsh but delightful landscape of the island you will come across many fig and olive trees. Over the centuries the inhabitants have built numerous stonewalls for protection against the wind. You will bike on the narrow peninsula until you reach the sea, where the ship will be waiting to take you to Rab. The island of Rab is one of the sunniest places in Europe. The town of Rab, the fortified capital of the island, was built in the middle ages on a wedge-shaped headland, and marks one of the highlights of the trip. The four famous bell towers are the symbol of the adorned beauty of the town. After dinner you can explore the narrow alleys with numerous cosy cafés.
You will bike along the coast to the east side of the island, an area with virtually no vegetation, whose rough and cliffy rocks remind you of a lunar landscape. The road will lead you on to a bay with a sandy beach, which is rather atypical for the Kvarner islands. At lunchtime the ship will be waiting for you in the harbour directly in front of the old town of Rab. Afterwards you will be cycling on the green peninsula to the north of the island. In Lopar you will meet your ship again. After a swim-break the ship will take you over to the neighbouring island of Krk, where you will spend the evening in the historical town of Krk.
You will cycle over the ridge of the island, which is covered by fragrant macchia, to a valley of vineyards, and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town, built on a 50-metre-high cliff and surrounded by vineyards, is the home of the famous white wine, Zlahtina. Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The way will lead you on across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to Omišalj, from where Rijeka will be within sight. On the way, you will have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline. You will spend the last night in Omišalj.
After breakfast you say good bye to the crew and the tour leader and disembark by 9am.
Individual arrival in Omišalj, a nice little harbor village on the island of Krk. The cabins on the motor yacht will be ready for you from 11 am. At about 1 pm the boat leaves and takes us to Malinska, the starting point of our first cycling tour that leads us to Krk town, the lively capital of the island, where we can join our tour guide on a stroll through the historic old town.
In the morning crossing from Krk town to Lopar on Rab Island. From there we cycle through the northern part of the island, which is green and rich in water to the Rab town - the fortified capital of the island, was built in the middle ages on a wedge shaped headland, and marks one of the highlights of the trip. The four famous bell towers are the symbol of the adorned beauty of the town. In the afternoon we may go for a second bike ride that leads us along the coast to the east side of the island, an area with virtually no vegetation, which’s rough and cliffy rocks remind us of a lunar landscape. On a guided evening walk we can explore the most interesting sights of Rab. Numerous cosy cafes invite us to enjoy a drink in the narrow alleys after dinner.
After a short cruise we reach the island of Pag. In the harsh but delightful landscape of the island we come across many fig and olive trees. Over the centuries the inhabitants have built numerous stone walls for protection against the wind. Starting from Lun we cycle first to Novalja and finally to Mandre, where the boat awaits us to take us to Zadar, which, for centuries, was the political, cultural and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. Our tour guide takes us on an extensive walk through the lively city centre. 3000 years of history have left their imprint on the character of this town and there are many things to be admired: the mighty fortified walls with their bastions, the loggia but also the early Romanesque St. Donatus Basilica.
During breakfast the ship leaves and takes us past many small islands to the "spice island" of Dugi Otok. The destination of our cruise is the worth-seeing nature park of Telašćica. In the peaceful atmosphere we go for a walk to Lake Mir and along the impressive cliffs of the island. Later on today’s bike tour starts and leads us along an almost traffic-free road offering many terrific views of the deep blue sea and the surrounding islands until we reach the bay of Božava. On our way we meet the ship for lunch in one of the picturesque fishing villages. Before we arrive at Božava there is also the chance to make a detour to the lighthouse of Veli Rat.
A short cycling tour in the morning leads us from Molat to Zapuntel where the boat already awaits us for the crossing to the island of Lošinj. From Mali Lošinj, an old seafaring and health resort with colorful houses, we cycle in the afternoon along the seaside walk we cycle to the south of Lošinj and visit the picturesque small harbor of Veli Lošinj which is dominated by the impressive church of Holy Anton. Afterwards we return to Mali Lošinj where the nice small music bar at the harbor invites us for spending an unforgettable evening.
In the morning we bike along a panoramic route to a swing bridge that leads us over an already in Roman time built canal to the island of Cres. In the artist town of Osor – directly situated at the canal – we meet the boat for lunch. Before we cycle further to Martinšćica, we can go on a guided walk through Osor. From Martinšćica the boat takes us to Cres town. After dinner we can take part in a short guided tour through the Venetian old town of Cres.
After a longer cruise in the morning to Malinska on Krk Island we cycle over the ridge of the island which is covered by fragrant macchia to a valley of vineyards and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town built on a 165-feet-high (50m) cliff and surrounded by vineyards is the home of the famous white wine Žlahtina. Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The way leads us across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to Omišalj. On our way we have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cosy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.
After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.
Istria is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea, a region of almost eternal spring with comfortable temperatures and Mediterranean vegetation. Istria is the home of olives, figs, almonds, grapes and numerous other wonders.
Slavonic, Romanic and Germanic peoples meet here and cultures, customs and points of view merge into one. Despite the evident Italian past of Istria, there is not one road that leads to Rome, but all the roads lead into medieval little towns situated along the coast, up to small hills, to lonely churches, villages, inns and to the last craftsmen of dying trades.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1:
(Sun) Pula - Medulin - Bay of Banjole (approx. 30 km / 19 mi. by bicycle)

Your first bike tour takes you from the harbour along beautiful bays to the southern tip of Istria. From there you ride on a good asphalt road to Medulin, easily recognized from afar by its two white church towers. In the shady village square you take a short break for refreshments. From Medulin you bicycle to the bay of Banjole for the overnight.
Day 2:
(Mon) Vrsar - Porec (approx. 30 km/ 19 mi. by bicycle)

On a walk after dinner with your town guide, you encounter evidence of the town's eventful past at every step along the way, strolling through the charming historical centre, with its beautiful buildings of many different era's, and the bustling shopping lanes. The famous Euphrasius Basilica, with its gorgeous early-Christian mosaics, is also well-worth a visit.
Day 3: (Tue) Porec - Grosnjan - Umag (approx. 60 km / 19 mi. by bicycle)
Today's bike tour takes you from Porec through extensive vineyards to Visnjan, home of the famous white cattle. After a coffee break you continue through the gentle hills of the hinterland via Vizinada to the artists' village of Grosnjan. Along the way you have a fortifying picnic. Your destination is Umag, which offers a picturesque old town centre with the remains of a medieval city wall located on a promontory. Dinner on board.

In favourable weather conditions you have an amazing view as far as Slovenia, Italy and even the Alps. On the way back to the ship, there are plenty of opportunities for a refreshing dip in the sea. In the afternoon you bike along quiet sea promenades from Umag to Novigrad. There you find the impressive crenellated city wall as well the 7th century Pelagius Basilica. Day 6 (Fri) Rovinj - Palud (approx. 20 km / 12 mi. by bicycle)

A town guide leads you after dinner through the maze of narrow lanes making up the old town.
Day 7 (Sat) Barbariga – Fazana - Brijuni Islands - Pula (approx. 20 km /12 mi. by bicycle)
After a short cruise to the bay of Barbariga, you unload your bikes there and cross with a ferry over to the Brijuni Islands. Until Tito's death in 1980, the paradise of the Brijuni Islands was a prohibited area accessible only to the government elite and their official guests. The island's sight-seeing train takes you to the remotest corners of this sub-tropical nature park with its lush vegetation and exotic fauna. On the way across the island you also visit with your local guide some well-preserved Roman excavations. In the evening you bicycle from Fazana to Pula, where dinner on board of the ship is already waiting for you.

SOUTHERN DALMATIA
8 Day Escorted Tour
South Dalmatia is the smallest region of Croatia with the lowest number of inhabitants. On your cycling tour you pass unique small towns and flourishing island landscapes. You see the wonderful island Korcula with its picturesquely situated old town, the winegrowing peninsula Pelijesac and the island Mljet with its impressive national park. The islands of South Dalmatia are higher than those of the Kvarner Bay and Central Dalmatia, which means that the bike-tours offer beautiful and long descents (and admittedly also quite a few ascents). Our tour guide leads you through towns that are well worth exploring, such as Trogir, Split, Hvar and Korcula, almost all of which are protected as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Trogir / Split (approx. 20 km)
Individual arrival in the picturesque harbour of Trogir, (about 5 km away from Split Airport). After checking in on the motor yacht before 2 p.m., the ship will take you away from the mainland to the island of Split. Your first bike-tour in the afternoon leads you to the mountain of Marjan, a recreation area of the inhabitants of the island. In the evening your tour guide will take you on a stroll through Split. Overnight stay in Split.
Day 2: Cetina Canyon (approx. 40 km)
The ship will take you to the island of Omis. You will bike from Omis through the valley of the Cetina river, which has dug itself deep into the cliffs. On little side roads and through diverse land-scapes you cycle back to Omis, with its pirate castles. In the afternoon you will cross over to the island of Brac. There you have a swim break and an optional bike tour from Pucisca. You will explore hands-on the famous white marble of Brac, which was used for building the White House in Washington and the parliament building in Berlin.
Day 3: Island of Brac (approx. 45 km)
The tour starts with a long, but moderate climb to the ridge of the island, whereby you will pass countless mulberry, kiwi and fig trees, pinewoods, olive groves and vineyards. The descent to the beach in Bol with impressive panoramic views on the neighbouring island of Hvar makes the ascent worthwhile. After lunch, you undertake a longer cruise to the island of Korcula, where you will spend the night in the capital of the island, the town of Korcula, which challenges Venice for the honour of being the birth place of Marco Polo.
Day 4: Peninsula Pelješac and Mljet (approx. 40/60 km)
Peljesac with its towering, nearly 1.000 m high, mountain massive of Sv. Ilja has been the impres-sive backdrop for the last two days of the tour. The morning ascent above the sea takes you up through Dalmatia’s most famous winegrowing area, home to renowned wines such as Plavac and Dinga, on your way to Trstenik. In the afternoon you will travel by ship to the island of Mljet. The green island of Mljet is also known as the “island of honey”. In the 12th century the Benedictines established a monastery in this beautiful isolated place, surrounded by woods of pine and holm oak trees. The local pine forest is supposed to be the most beautiful of its kind in the whole Mediterranean. Ulysses is supposed to have spent seven years here. You will bike along the saltwater lake of the island, in which there is yet another small island.
Day 5: Korcula (approx. 45 km)
The peace and isolation of the copious gardens with large cypresses characterises the image of this arguably most beautiful Dalmatian island. You will cycle along the 12 km long costal road to Racisce, where you have lunch. After pedalling the short distance to Pupnat, you continue on the old 200 m high mountain pass route above the bay of Pupnat to Blato. This town is built on seven hills like Rome. A night in the safe harbour of Vela Luka.
Day 6: Hvar (approx. 25 km)

After your arrival in the harbour of Hvar, you take a interesting city tour. You pass its large Ren-aissance square with the cathedral which is surrounded by many late gothic palaces. You can visit the historically important Spanish fortress, the cathedral and the old theatre.
During today's bike tour you will pass small island villages with picturesque stone houses, aligned like pearls on a chain. You reach the end of the bike-tour, the historical town of Stari Grad, on the nearly traffic-free mountain pass route.
Day 7: Solta (approx. 30 km)
Cruise to the island of Solta. On your last bike-tour you will see fields surrounded by ancient stone walls as well as numerous olive, fig and carob trees. The lavender and rosemary shrubs give the island its specific fragrance. In Maslinica you load your bikes onto the ship and enjoy the last crossing back to Trogir.
Day 8: Trogir
Departure by 9.00am
Tour Character
Moderate to hilly. A good level of fitness is required. The daily routes of 30-60 km cover hilly terrain but can be completed without any time constraints. You will also come across some longer and rather steep climbs, where you might have to push your bike. You can skip a bike-tour and spend a day sunbathing on the ship if you wish.
You can decide every day for yourself whether you would like to cycle individually, using the maps provided, or join one of the tour guides.
Airport / Transfers
The nearest airport is Split, 10 minutes by taxi from the dock in Trogir (approx. $25)

NATIONAL PARKS OF CENTRAL DALMATIA
8 Day Escorted Tour
Central Dalmatia is our 'green' tour. The breathtaking beauty of the landscape is what makes this trip truly worthwhile. The islands are generally thinly populated, and apart from Trogir and Zadar, we will not be visiting any larger towns. The ship will be sailing up the Krka River as far as the waterfalls and into the National Park of Krka. South of the island Dugi Otok we will be sailing through the National Park of Kornati, where numerous small islands are located side by side.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1 (Sat) Trogir – Rogoznica (approx. 7- 17 km by bicycle)
Individual arrival by plane to Split. After checking in on the motor yacht at
Trogir Harbour and your first lunch on board, our first cruise starts at 1.00pm, leading us to Rogoznica. In the afternoon we will
start a circle tour cycling along the wide bay.

Day 2 (Sun) Rogoznica – Primošten – Šibenik – Vodice (approx. 15 km by bicycle)
In the morning we will cycle from Rogoznica to Primošten. Our motor yacht will then take us through a
narrow passage to Šibenik. After visiting the famous cathedral and the historic old town, our ship
will take off again and continue towards Vodice, where we stay the night.
Day 3 (Mon) Vodice – Murter – Telašcica (approx. 27 km by bicycle)
In the morning we cycle from Vodice to the island of Murter, which is connected with the mainland by a
lift bridge. We will meet the ship for dinner in a romantic quiet harbor. In the afternoon we go on a
cruise through the National Park of the Kornati islands, an archipelago of crystal clear waters known for
its diverse flora and fauna. In the peaceful atmosphere of the Telašcica nature park we go for a walk
along the impressive cliffs of the island.
Day 4 (Tue) Island of Dugi Otok (approx. 30 km/65 km by bicycle)
Our bike tour begins in Telašcica Nature Park along a virtually traffic-free road. Along a panoramic road,
we ride clear across the island. During the ride we’re treated to countless unforgettable vistas of the
islands in the deep blue sea. We meet our ship in the harbor of Savar and have lunch. Afterwards the
ship takes us to Zadar, which, for centuries, was the political, cultural and spiritual centre of Dalmatia.
Our tour guide takes us on an extensive walk through the lanes of the lively old centre. 3000 years of
history have left their imprint on the character of this town and there are many things to be admired: the
mighty fortified walls with their bastions, the loggia but also the early Romanesque St. Donatus Basilica.
Day 5 (Wed) Pašman and Ugljan – Skradin (Cycle Tour approx. 35 km by bicycle)
During breakfast the boat will cross over to island of Ugljan situated at the channel of Zadar. Today we
will have lots of cycling time to discover the two islands which are now connected by a bridge. Beautiful
views to the sea and the opposite mainland will be possible while cycling along the east coast.
Afterwards our boat will pass Sibenik and the lower course of the river Krka; cruise along the river
windings until we will reach Skradin.
Day 6 (Thu) National Park of Krka – Island Zlarin (Cycle Tour approx. 31 km)
The magnificent port of Skradin is today’s start point for a wonderful morning cycle tour. We will cycle
though forest valleys to the Lake Visovac which is situated on the upper course of the river Krka. Here
a swimming stop can be enjoyed. On calm roads and through small villages we will return to
Skradin. In the afternoon we start from here to visit the most famous part of the National Park of Krka
with its unique waterfalls. Later on the boat will take us to the coral island of Zlarin.
Day 7 (Fri) Island of Solta (approx. 15 or 40 km by bicycle)
In the morning our motor yacht will take us to island Solta. Olive and fig trees and farmland surround the
streets. The spicy smell of lavender and rosmary will follow you throughout the whole tour around the quiet island until we reach the village Grohote. During midday break our last cruise will take us back to Trogir.
Here we will have enough time to visit the world cultural heritage and medieval old town. After dinner it'is time to say good bye to crew, guides, and new friends.

Day 8 (Sat) Departure
Guests are asked to check out after breakfast, i.e. at 9 am.
Tour Rating - Intermediate
This tour is one of our easier routes, requiring just a reasonable level of fitness. The islands reach an altitude of only 100 to 300 metres above sea level. The daily routes of 30 to 50 km cover some hilly terrain but may be completed at your own pace.
The roads are mostly asphalted and there is little traffic outside of holiday periods. You can decide every day whether you want to cycle by yourself using the maps provided, or join our tour guide.

DALMATIA FROM DUBROVNIK
8 Day Escorted Tour
If you would like to experience the region of South Dalmatia thoroughly, yet not wanting to miss Dubrovnik, this sail and bike trip is an excellent choice. Accompanied by our charming floating accommodation, you will get to know this sparsely populated part of Croatia, including the islands of Sipan, Korcula, Hvar, Mljet, Vis, Lastovo and Peljesac. The highlight of the trip is the town centre of Dubrovnik that is listed on UNESCO’s world heritage list with its imposing city wall and its narrow alleys.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1 (Sun) Embarkation at Dubrovnik and Sipan Island (approx. 10 km. by bicycle)
Individual arrival at Dubrovnik. After lunch, our journey begins with a short cruise to the island of Sipan, the largest of the Elefitian islands. A pleasant bike ride takes us in the afternoon past numerous luxury villas of the rich and noble of Dubrovnik, through green forests, fertile valleys and subtropical parks. Overnight on Sipan.
Day 2 (Mon) Mljet Island (approx. 30 + 12 kmi. by bicycle)
In the morning, the ship takes us on a 2-hour-crossing to the "honey island" of Mljet. Here, starting from the ferry harbor of Sobra, we bicycle to Pomena, where the ship awaits us for lunch. 90 % of Mljet Island is covered by forest and thus is one of the most densely wooded islands in the entire Mediterranean. Homer also mentions it in his Odyssee, making it the home of the nymph Calypso, who kept the famous hero here for seven years. A short bike trip in the afternoon takes us to Mljet National Park. In the 12th century, Benedictine monks founded a monastery here, in a fabulous location on a small island, which you can reach by a small excursion boat.
Day 3 (Tue) Island of Lastovo (approx. 30 km. by bicycle)
The day begins with a cruise to Lastovo Island. This island is one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Adriatic. Already the emperor Augustus appreciated its mild climate and in Roman times it was even named "Augusta Insula" after him. The islanders, little more than 1000, still live today mainly off fishing the extremely rich waters, agriculture and wine culture. Here grows the yellow-golden white wine "Marastina", which is known well beyond Croatia's borders. After an extensive exploration of the island, the ship takes us on a long cruise to Vis.
Day 4 (Wed) Island of Vis (approx. 30 km by bicycle)
Vis is the Croatian island located furthest from the mainland. 2000 years ago it was already a Greek colony by the name of Issa. On account of its strategically important location, it was along with Lastovo a military zone prohibited to foreign tourists until 1995. After lunch, the ship takes us to the island of Hvar. The island capital by the same name is one of the high points of every journey to Dalmatia. On a long walk we become acquainted with the beautiful medieval town centre and the citadel rising high above it. Afterwards we may end the day at our leisure in a cozy wine bar.
Day 5 (Thu) Korcula Island (approx. 40 km. by bicycle)
A morning cruise takes us to Korcula Island and the well known port of Vela Luka. From here we bicycle to Prigradica, where we meet the ship for lunch. In the afternoon we explore the eastern part of the island, which is counted among the most beautiful islands of Dalmatia. Destination of the ride is the capital of the island by the same name, which vies with Venice over the honor of being the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. In the evening we have enough time for a stroll through the alleys of this fantastic town.
Day 6 (Fri) Peljesac Peninsula (approx. 25 km by bicycle)
During breakfast on board, the ship takes us to the town of Orebic on the Pelješac Peninsula. Pelješac is impressive even from a distance because of the Sv. Ilja mountain range rising almost 1000 m high out of the sea. The bike tour takes us into the hinterland, past Dalmatia's most famous vineyard, where the wonderful Plavac and Dingac wines are grown, to Trstenik. From here the ship takes us to Slano on the mainland, where we stay the night.
Day 7 (Sat) Mainland around Slano and Dubrovnik (approx. 20 km by bicycle)
After breakfast and a cruise, the last bike trip of the journey begins. The town of Slano offers us either a beautiful but also somewhat strenuous tour into the hinterland or an easy promenade ride with time for swimming and relaxing until noon. After lunch, our floating abode makes fast in Dubrovnik, so that we’ll have enough time to participate in the guided tour through this town listed as a World Heritage site and for a walk to the impressive city walls. After the Captain's dinner, we say goodbye to the crew and our tour guides.
Day 8 (Sun) Disembarkation at Dubrovnik
Disembarkation around 9 am and individual departure or extend your stay in Croatia.
Tour Character
Moderate to hilly. A good level of fitness is required. The daily routes of 20-40 km cover hilly terrain but can be completed without any time constraints. You will also come across some longer and rather steep climbs, where you might have to push your bike. You can skip a bike tour and spend a day swimming and sunbathing from the ship if you wish.
You can decide every day for yourself whether you would like to cycle individually, using the maps provided, or join one of the tour guides.

DUBROVNIK TO TROGIR
8 Day Escorted Tour

Day to Day Itinerary
1st Day Embarkation at Dubrovnik
Individual arrival in Dubrovnik either by car or plane. After checking in, the early afternoon is at our own disposal for a walk through this interesting town and its excellently preserved fortress. In the late afternoon we participate in a guided tour through Dubrovnik. Dinner on board.

2nd Day Slano - Ston - Peljesac - Korcula (approx. 30 km / 19 mi. by bicycle)
After crossing over to Slano our first cycle tour leads us to Ston on the peninsula of Pelješac. The amazing fortification fortress of Ston, built in the 15th century, is the longest defense wall in the whole of Europe. After a coffee break in Ston we continue cycling to Prapratno, where the boat is awaiting us for the short sail to Korcula and the island capital by the same name, which competes with Venice for the honor of being the birthplace of Marco Polo. Here we have sufficient time to explore this beautiful town at leisure.
3rd Day Islands of Korcula and Lastovo (approx. 30 km / 19 mi. by bicycle)
In the morning we explore the island of Korcula by bicycle. Our bike tour takes us from Korcula town to Brna on old pass roads past the famous Pupnat Bay. From Brna the boat takes us to the island of Lastovo, one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Adriatic. Already the emperor Augustus appreciated its mild climate and in Roman times it was even named after him as "Augusta Insula". The islanders, little more than 1000, mainly still live from fishing the extremely rich waters, agriculture and wine culture. On Lastovo, the whole afternoon is at our own disposal for swimming or relaxing.
4th Day Islands of Lastovo, Korcula and Vis (approx. 25 + 30 km / 16 + 19 mi. by bicycle)
In the morning we explore the island of Lastovo by bicycle. Here grows the yellow-golden white wine "Marastina", which is known well beyond Croatia's borders. After our ride on Lastovo, the ship takes us back to Korcula. Later on we cycle from Brna to Vela Luka passing by Blato, which like Rome, was built on seven hills. The peacefulness and remoteness of luscious gardens with large cypresses dominate the appearance of Korcula, perhaps the most beautiful Dalmatian island.
5th Day Islands of Vis and Hvar (approx. 32 km / 20 mi. by bicycle)
Vis is the Croatian island located furthest from the mainland. 2.000 years ago it was already a Greek colony by the name of Issa. On account of its strategically important location, it was along with Lastovo a military zone prohibited to foreign tourists until 1995. On today’s cycling tour we explore this likeable island. After lunch we cross over to Hvar. Once arrived in the town of Hvar we undertake a guided tour around the town across the large Renaissance square which is lined with the cathedral and many late gothic palaces. We may also climb to the Spanish fortress.
6th Day Island of Hvar (approx. 20 + 25 km / 12.5 + 15 mi. by bicycle)
Along today's bicycle route from Hvar town to Stari Grad on an almost car-free pass road, small Island villages with their attractive stone houses are lined up like pearls on a chain. After lunch in Stari Grad, the next bike tour takes us to the idyllic harbors of Jelsa and Vrboska, inviting us to take a long break for swimming and ice cream. For the night, we return again to Stari Grad, which in recent years has developed into a Mecca for artists and art lovers.
7th Day Islands of Solta (approx. 18 km / 11 mi. by bicycle)
After crossing over to Stomorska on the island of Solta, we set out on our last bicycle tour. Walled fields, olive groves, carob and fig trees line the road. The sweet aroma of lavender and rosemary accompanies us on the ride across this quiet island. At Maslinica we load up our bikes and enjoy the last crossing to Trogir. There we have enough time to participate in a guided tour through the historical centre of Trogir, which is listed as a World Heritage site. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the customary dinner and a last get-together in a cosy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.
8th Day Disembarkation at Trogir
After breakfast, disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

KVARNER BAY AND ISTRIA
8 Day independent Tour
This newly designed tour offers the opportunity to extend your cycling holiday in Croatia for another week of individual cycling, as this week may be booked separately from our other escorted packages.
The cycle routes around Kvarner Bay and Istria introduce something new to be discovered every day. You are free, however, to compose your own tours according to your taste and capability so each day can be as relaxing or as strenuous as you wish.

Day to Day Itinerary
1st day (Sat or Sun) Journey to Krk Island
Privately organized journey by plane or car to your hotel on the Krk Island. The Valamar Koralj Romantic Hotel is a ten-minute walk away from the island capital of the same name above a quiet bay amidst a spicy scented pine wood.
2nd day (Sun or Mon) Krk Island (Cycling tour approx. 40 km/25 mi., max. 800 m/2.624 ft. difference in altitude)
For today we suggest a tour to the sleepy village of Stara Baška. On a smoothly rising road with little traffic you reach an altitude of 300 m. In clear weather you can enjoy an impressive view of the Kvarner Bay. In a fast descent you reach Stara Baška, welcoming you with its clean beach to take a swim. After that you take the same way back to Punat. From there it is worthwhile visiting the monastery island Košljun, which can only be reached by boat. The old Franciscan monastery houses an ethnographical as well as a richly equipped zoological collection. In one of the two chapels you may marvel at the biggest picture of Croatia painted by Francesco Ughetti. In the afternoon you may go for a nice stroll in the alleys of Krk, the island capital, and enjoy the numerous historical references of the place.
3rd day (Mon or Tue) Krk Island (Cycling tour approx. 60 km/37 mi., ca. 1000 m/3.280 ft. difference in altitude, highest point 300 m/984ft.)
Along minor roads and forest paths, be prepared for today's cycling tour which leads you first to Vrbnik. This old fishing village is one of the strongholds of the glagolitical scripts; furthermore the wine (vine Žlahtina) cultivated here can only be found in one more place on the Croatian mainland. With only 51 cm (1.7 ft.) in width Vrbnik presents one of the narrowest alleys in the world, which certainly should be part of your stroll through the village. After that you cycle to Dobrinj; on your way there you pass a fantastic viewpoint – a "must" for each tourist. Afterwards, in nice weather you should take the steep slope to Soline, where a healthy mud bath may develop its beneficial as well as its cooling effect. A slight climb along the villages of Tribulje and Kras takes you back towards Krk.
4th day (Tue or Wed) From Krk via Cres to Istria (Cycling tour max. 77 km/48 mi., ca. 1200 m/3.950 ft. difference in altitude, highest point 450 m/1.480 ft)
After having dropped your luggage for transport you cycle via Vrh to the ferry harbour of Valbiska. After a 45-minute crossing you reach the neighbouring island of Cres. When having reached the main road after a steep ascent it is at your disposal to take a rewarding detour to the island's capital of Cres town. Here a dreamy place with wonderful old parts, a famous Franciscan monastery, a beautiful promenade with fantastic beaches and a great meal welcomes you. With new strength you climb up a fantastic mountain pass with numerous view points, small deserted villages, and a nearly genuine jungle. The next place to go to is the ferry harbour of Porozina from where you cross to Brestova on the Istrian peninsula in 15 minutes – another 27 km / 15.5 mi. take you to today's destination, the town of Rabac.
5th day (Wed or Thu) From Rabac to Porec, (Cycling tour via ˇminj approx. 70 km/44 mi. 850 m/2.780 ft. or via Pazin approx. 80 km/50 mi., ca. 1000 m/3.280 ft. difference in altitude)
The longer cycling tour of today takes you from Rabac to Poreč. We suggest two different alternatives: the first one along the Lim Fiord which carves 30 km (18,5 m.) into the Istrian peninsula. The fiord is a paradise-like countryside offering habitat for rare fishes and extraordinary palatable shells. Don't miss tasting these local specialities in one of the idyllically situated restaurants. Via Klostar you finally reach Poreč.
The alternative route first takes you via Pazin to Gračišće. Today this medieval place on top of a hill is completely listed on a historic register, and for that very reason worthwhile an extended stroll. From there it is not too far to Pazin, the Istrian administrative main place. The history of Pazin covers a period of over 1000 years, and had been the residence of the Habsburg earldom for a long time. The castle that long ago inspired Jules Verne to write his novel Mathias Sandorf belongs to the biggest and best preserved throughout Istria. On hidden roads and through extended vineyards you finally reach Poreč, one of the most attractive towns of Croatia.
6th day (Thu or Fri) Istria
Poreč – one town – innumerable possibilities. Maybe you feel like having an easy day today: take your chance and cycle to one of the quiet bathing bays nearby or go on a shopping tour and enjoy relaxing in one of the excellent restaurants. But on no account miss visiting the famous Euphrasius-basilica, honoured with the world cultural heritage award. Today, there are, of course, endless opportunities to cycle. Thus you may visit the well-known stalactite cave of Baredine, go to Vrsar, the town of Casanova, or pedal along the Riviera coast of Poreč. We equip you with detailed information of the most interesting tours at your choice. Should you fancy a boat trip even to more distant places you may book a one-day excursion to lagoon-town of Venice (with a speed boat within 3 hrs).
7th day (Fri or Sat) Istria (Cycling tour up to 90 Km/56 mi.)
Our suggestion for today is an Istrian round tour. From Poreč you can cycle via Višnjan deeper and deeper towards the centre of the peninsula. On your way you come along extended pastures on which the famous Istrian Boskarian cattle graze. The aim and climax of today's tour is the medieval town of Motovun; situated on top of a hill, the town was in control over the important sales routes and the whole valley of Istria's biggest river. The Motovun forest is a well-known place where the Istrian truffle can be found. In the late afternoon you will return to your hotel in Poreč.
8th day (Sat or Sun) Departure
After breakfast, check-out and individual journey home – or you may prolong your hotel stay. According to demand we can organize a transfer to your car.
Tour Rating - Intermediate
Not too difficult tours (up to 90 km / 56 miles and an average of 400 m / 1300 ft. difference in altitude) in a hilly countryside on fairly good roads. Road maps are put at your disposal – you set your own speed. Proposals are also made for shorter and less strenuous tours. Only the 2 sections when changing your hotel cannot be shortened.
Airport / Transfers
Nearest airport is Rijeka, approx.20 minutes by taxi from the hotel. Other possible airports are:
- Pula (distance to Omisalj: 2 hours)
- Triest (distance to Omisalj: 3 hours)
